Biography

Dave Miranda

Dave is the drummer and co-producer of the renowned instrumental progressive / fusion power trio, Magic Elf. The band has received only stellar reviews from publications such as Guitar World, Progression, Fuse, 20th Century Guitar, and a host of others. Magic Elf has just released their third album entitled Heavy Meddle.  Visit the audio page to hear samples.

Dave is also the driving rhythmic force behind comical progressive punk legacy, Six & Violence. Ian Anderson of JETHRO TULL is featured on Six and Violence's first album, Lettuce Prey. Dave uses an unusual "stand-up" drum kit and an innovative technique to compliment the Six's unique sound.

In an interview with Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson published in "A New Day" magazine, Ian describes Dave's drumming:"[Dave] has no bass drums, he just plays tom-toms and snare drum, incredibly well, at unbelievable speed, and his feet never touch the ground. This is a new kind of drumming, kamikaze stuff!" -Ian Anderson

Dave had previously toured and recorded with famed NY progressive-metal-thrash kings, Ludichrist (which later became Scatterbrain), appearing on their second album, "Powertrip" (Relativity Records). This album is considered a classic of the genre and was recently re-released by Relativity Records.

Dave will shortly be finishing the construction of his new state-of-the-art recording studio. Studio projects on the horizon include new releases by Magic Elf, Dave's own solo projects and collaborations with other well-known artists.

At the age of three Dave began banging on pots and pans with wooden spoons. By age 13 Dave was rigorously studying with ace instructor Jim Chahalis and went on to study with drum master James O'Hara. Dave was involved in high school drum corps and marched with members of DCI champs, the Garfield Cadet's. Dave later attended the State University of NY at StonyBrook where he continued studying music while touring and recording.
